Florida Vacation 2017
What better way to kick off summer than a vacation to South
Florida? Our family decided to take a trip out there, before we officially started
summer school and it was definitely the highlight of my whole summer! We went
for 2.5 days and that was more than enough to enjoy the atmosphere and
everything Miami and South Beach had to offer.
Day 1:
Location: South Beach
Public Transit-only 25 cents!
The first day
we were there we decided to explore the city. We walked around Ocean Drive and even
took public transit to go get breakfast. Surprisingly the bus came really fast
and only costed 25 cents! I liked taking photos of all the buildings in the
area as they were popping with colour and made for good photos especially when
I could also get a palm tree in the shot. We also managed to find some good
shopping areas and bought bodysuits and dresses from Desigual and Supreme. Finally,
we ended day one with a swim in the ocean. Luckily, we were able to found an area without too many people and enjoyed the water while watching the sunset!
Day 2:
Location:
Fairchild Botanical Gardens
First time trying Acai Bowls!
So pretty!
The next day we started
off at a vegan café where my sister and I tried our first acai bowls. They were
really good expect I got one that was too overpowered by peanut butter!
Anyways, our main focus for the second day was to attend the Mango Festival at Fairchild
Botanical Gardens. It was so pretty and fun that we even got a yearlong
membership to the gardens! We got there around 11:00 am and it was already
packed. When we arrived at the main area we went to straight to the tasting
room where we got to try about nine different types of mangoes. I found all of
the varieties to be really good, and I wished they had let try more! After we
had finished tasting we also ended up buying some rambutan and mangoes to bring
back to our apartment that did not disappoint! Despite the heat, it was fun to
walk around the gardens and see all the different plants that was inside the
park. We also found a butterfly conservatory that proved to be a mission as
to who could get the best picture of a butterfly before they flew away, it was a
struggle to say the least! 😊 The festival was so much more fun than I
expected it to be and really opened by eyes to just how many different
varieties of mango there really are!
Day 3:
Location: South Beach
On our last morning at
South Beach we ate at yet another, vegan café that was so good that I still
think about the toast I had there months later! My sister ended up getting a
poke bowl, something she really enjoyed while she was there as the tuna was
especially good and authentic there! I ended up getting toast with mashed peas,
cheese and yellow tomatoes! It was creamy and combined all the right flavours,
making it extremely delicious! After we returned back home, we finished all the
fruit we had gotten the day before and moved on our next destination!
Top 5 Favourite Things

Despite the short trip
we managed to fit in a lot of activities in the two and a half days! It was the
perfect mix of relaxation and adventure that has kept me hoping that we will be
going back very, very soon!
